Bucksmore Animal Care Summer Programme, Plumpton College, East Sussex

Locations

Run in Plumptons specialist animal care unit for students aged 13 to 16. The Animal Care programme at Plumpton will give students the opportunity to see and engage with our extensive range of animals: from amphibians and fish to birds, mammals and reptiles. Students have 7.5 hours of Animal Care tuition per week spending time in the specialist Animal Care unit, learning how to care for animals along with what they need as well as handling some of Plumpton’s small animals.

Most of the time spent in the animal management unit will be interactive. As well as this, student’s have 15 hours of English tuition per week as well as activities and excursions out of classes.

Plumpton College is an amazing location at the foot of the South Downs and only 20 minutes away from the seaside town of Brighton. The College is an agricultural college during the academic year and as such it has a working farm; an Animal Care Centre; stables including one of the best horse-riding schools in the country; and beautiful grounds which can be used for outside activities.

With a sprawling site of 900 hectares, including tennis courts, sports fields, vineyards, a sports hall, an animal care centre and a forest, Plumpton College has a wide range of opportunities for sports and activities and in safe and secure setting.

Plumpton College also has the largest horse riding stables in the south of England. Bucksmore students can choose to undertake horse riding lessons as an optional extra, making use of the indoor and outdoor riding schools.

Plumpton College provides both single and twin bedrooms in separate male and female accommodation blocks, and all bathrooms are shared between 4-6 students. Laundry is available onsite and free of charge.

Bucksmore also offers a complimentary airport transfer service to students arriving at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
