Students of the International Study Centre benefit from improved English language skills and a multicultural environment aimed to fully prepare you for international study at the University of Leicester.  The University of Leicester is ranked 25th in the UK. Our programmes combine academic modules, study skills and English language training. They aim to give you the best opportunity to succeed in your university degree. The ISC's fantastic city-centre location is only 20 minutes' walk from the University. The vibrant city of Leicester's shops, restaurants and train station are close by.

Accommodation

During your studies at the International Study Centre you will have a range of student accommodation options. You can live in St Georges Tower, which is in the same building as your classrooms and a 20-minute walk from the University. Your room comes with everything you need to be comfortable. Furniture includes a bed, a wardrobe, a desk and chair, bookshelves and a television.

You will also receive bedding and a catering pack when you arrive. The kitchen area in the room has a fridge, electric hob, oven/grill and microwave. You will have your own private shower room. It has a toilet, basin and shower. You can also choose to live in University of Leicester student accommodation, or you can arrange your own.

Study Centre

International Foundation Year
Your pathway to the first year of your undergraduate degree at Leicester. You can choose from four pathways:

  • Economics and Management £ 15,160 tuition fee
  • Engineering and Technology £ 16,130 tuition fee
  • Science £ 16,130 tuition fee 
  • Society and Culture £ 15,160 tuition fee

The pathways are modular in structure. The modules have been carefully designed to focus on the academic area most useful to your chosen degree. Each pathway includes coursework, lectures, small group seminar work and self-study. You will be assessed regularly throughout the programme. This will ensure that you are on track to achieve the required grades for progression to your degree. Assessment methods include coursework, examinations, presentations and extended essays.

Course length: Three terms
Start dates: September and January

Tuition fees do not include the cost of text books, which will be approximately £ 75 per term.

International Year One
Your pathway to the second year of your undergraduate degree at Leicester. The programme includes coursework, tutorials, seminar style classes, self-study and larger group lectures. It has a modular in structure. This is made up of academic modules focusing on the areas most useful to your degree. You will also receive study skills and English language training.

You will have regular assessments throughout the programme. This will ensure that you are on track to achieve the required grades for progression to your degree. Assessment methods include coursework, examinations, presentations and extended essays.

Pathways and Progression: Management Studies £ 15,500
The modules you will be studying have been carefully designed to focus on the academic area most useful to your chosen degree.

Progression: Once you complete the programme and achieve the required grades (an overall grade at the end of the course and a minimum English grade on the final English Skills module), you can enter the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree at the University.

Entry Requirements
Age: You should be 18 years or older
English language: Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 (minimum 5.5 in writing). If you do not need a Tier 4 visa, or are exempted in another way, we can accept equivalent proof of English
Academic: Good high school graduation grades or equivalent academic study plus up to one year of further study

Course length: Three terms
